How does one CD get you so far? Make it a good one
In 1999, I produced my first publicly presented CD – “Conception Motion”. This CD told the story of my birth of this musical vision and the love story within.
The CD took me 2 months to “perfect”, and left everyone who heard it in anticipation of a part 2.
Initially 20 copies were made and sent to people I thought could help.
Barry Lang from Telstar Records phoned me at home one evening and said it was very refreshing, but lacked a “hook” for commercial attraction – but he did call.
The owner of the Cross club called one Sunday morning and said his copy has been in his CD player all week. In fact I quote “I have to remind myself I did not actually go and buy it from the shops".
We met that week and I was given a chance. "Mark Anthony" was on his way.
I was given a half hour trial DJ set at the Cross-club London - which ended up being 1 1/2 hours and within 2 months was a monthly resident & within 6 months a weekly regular.
Since then I have achieved
DJ'd alongside legends such as Paul Oakenfold, Danny Rampling and Seb Fontaine to name but a few (In fact my gig with Paul Oakenfold was the 1st one his mum ever heard him play)
Headlining “Space” NYE 2000 with Norman Jay MBE.
Helped raise over £250,000 for good causes.
Save the Rhino, Wildlifeline, Pattaya Orphanage Trust, Macmillan Cancer research
Host the 1st televised World Kitesurfing championship from the Dominican Republic.
I still advise Bars on musical direction, special guest at many of the countries more discerning parties as well as hosting some very nice events myself under the moniker of Audio Flirts and a few others..........
